Some
few weeks ago in OAU, exams were fast APPROACHING, later on, they became fast
REPROACHING. Why? The news of slim-fitted exam time-table caused the SPIRIT of students
to get slim-fitted. Many Great Ife students at that period gave their G.P a
phone-call. But a phone-call to Grade Point (GP) literally meaning calculating
your G.P diligently is an undisputable phenomenon in Nigerian Universities.
Various responses
to G.P phone-calls signifies categories of students. If a response is the number you are calling is not reachable
at the moment, please try again later then the student is one whose Grade
Point is yet to be on point. If it is “you
do not have sufficient balance to make this call, please recharge as soon as
possible”, that’s a student who has a long way to go on the sojourn of G.P.
When it is Sorry the number you are
calling is currently switched off, please try again later, be sure it’s not
a freshman dialing and if it is sorry the
number you are dialing is incorrect, please check the number and try again! There’s
a JAMBITE at the end of the line. Irrespective of these inconsistencies, one
thing is constant, no network failure,
because God Almighty, the ultimate NETWORK PROVIDER of G.P’s is never offline.
In this light,
‘appreciating’ the design of our country’s latest education packages,
considering how several programmes like windows sandwich are crashing down, one
is made to wonder if our education operating
system is not on the verge of hibernating.
SUCCESS in our
generation has ceased to be a nomenclature we once admire. In fact, the word
SUCCESS has been hacked by many a virus. And it’s virtually attached to many C.V’s
who are custodians of deadly versions of failure. Let’s click on the recent
happenings in our labour world, double-clicks
of retrenchment, control X of
education budgets and the likes, and realize that the vision of our founding
fathers is being formatted.
Right-click here and update your ANTI-Vailure: men
may have admitted us into universities to build a G.P (grade point) but the God
of men submitted us to NIGERIA to birth our G.P (Greatness and Potential).
And God decreed “Let there be LIGHT!” and
there were Nigerian YOUTHS! Every Nigerian youth is a candle-light of solution
and an ANTI-VIRUS of liberation. If we fail to install ourselves, I fear, Nigeria risks shutting down!
